![]() This is not a tremendous loss to me as that's just not how I spend my in-person time with friends, but I've seen some grumbling online over it. Unfortunately, this has come at the expense of "hot seat" multiplayer where you pass the phone back and forth. But Let's Golf! 2 also has a nice online multiplayer game (WiFi only) that lets you compete with friends. It's likely that you will spend the majority of your time in Let's Golf! 2 in the single-player modes, such as the lengthy career or the challenge holes, which present you with requirements to either satisfy or overcome. That's quite a feat to have all of your courses equally fun to play. Of the six courses, I dreaded playing none of them. They're also incredibly detailed, with lots of moving parts, such as foxes that gaily prance across the green in the UK course. They explode with color, especially on the iPhone 4's Retina display. (Of course, the wind can really mess with your swings on even the simplest of fairways.) The courses are set in fantasy locations, such as Mt. The courses are expertly designed, providing really tough challenges between mercifully easy holes. Gameloft has included no fewer than 108 holes in Let's Golf! 2, which equal six full courses. I like the stream of rewards – it kept me coming back to see what I might get next and if that new bit of swag would help me with holes that previously tripped me up. As long as you are doing reasonable well, Let's Golf! 2 doles these upgrades out on a regular basis. You also unlock experience by winning, which in turn increases your golfer's stats and strengths. You need to really step up your accuracy taps to overcome this hurdle on the green. For example, you may get extra power out of some new clubs, but that power comes at the price of putting accuracy. The benefits of some great items come with negatives. New clothes and clubs affect your skills – but not always in a positive manner. ![]() As you play, you also unlock new gear for your chosen player. Tapping your character's portrait then uses that skill on the next stroke. ![]() Whenever you make a great shot, your special skill is powered up. Each character has a specific set of skills as well as a special talent, like extra power behind a perfect swing. However, there are other ways to influence your strokes. And, to my great surprise, I found the meters in Let's Golf! 2 to be more accurate than the original game. Even after three hours of play, you cannot help but incorrectly tap the meter when the power or accuracy green zones are ultra-slim, denoting a really tough shot. Of course, you can also hit some pretty embarrassing bloopers if you fumble the meter. Though this is a well-worn system found in games like Mario Golf and Hot Shots Golf (both excellent golf games, too), it still works remarkably well. ![]()
